The railroads were constructed to end just east of the historic core of Los Angeles, which was the bustling downtown core of the city at the time. Towards the end of 19th century the rail lines were built in Los Angeles to connect Southern California to the rest of the country. Because of the “skid roads” that were in the center of the neighborhoods, they became known as “Skid Rows.” These neighborhoods were considered seedy, dangerous and dirty. The religious community responded to their needs by opening shelters to house, feed and proselytize to the men. Alcoholism grew among this population of men. When the men were out of work, they wound up often drunk and sleeping in the streets. But employment was often seasonal and scarce. When the men were working, they had money to spend on prostitution, liquor and hotels. The combination of beautifully designed, high quality housing, professional property management, and innovative social service provision has made Skid Row Housing Trust the national leader in ending homelessness. By providing an integrated approach to housing, primary healthcare, mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment, and counseling, the Trust provides many of the tools needed to overcome the causes of homelessness. The Trust has increasingly targeted its homes to long-term homeless and disabled men and women, with an emphasis on co-locating housing and services together. Over the past twenty five years the Trust has refined its homes to provide not just housing but a supportive community as well. The Trust swiftly mobilized private equity through low income tax credits, public finance and conventional debt to salvage hundreds of housing apartments that would have been otherwise lost.ĭilapidated hotels were renovated and transformed into safe, attractive and affordable permanent housing in which low-income and formerly homeless men and women could live and thrive. In 1989, community activists and business leaders of Los Angeles’ downtown community responded to the alarming disappearance of affordable, permanent housing by coming together to create Skid Row Housing Trust. But between 19, 15,000 residential hotel apartments, the most affordable housing in Los Angeles, were destroyed, threatening Skid Row’s residential community and forcing thousands of people onto the City’s shelters and sidewalks. Since the early 20th century, many of the City’s working poor, unemployed, disabled and otherwise marginalized residents have found homes in the single-room occupancy hotels located throughout this relatively small neighborhood. Also known as Central City East, the area has a longstanding history as a residential neighborhood for those with the least. Step 1: Build up a campfire in a place where fire won’t spread and damage too many things in the world like a road surface.Skid Row is an area of approximately 50 square blocks located just east of downtown Los Angeles. Once you have them all on top, you can simply light the fire to have the fire spread through all of the zombie corpses. Collect up all of the corpses in the area you want to get rid of and place them on a pile on top of the fire. Once you have placed the campfire down on the ground don’t light it yet. The best way to burn a lot of corpses at one time is to build yourself a campfire somewhere. We will go over all of the ways that you can get rid of corpses. One of the easiest ways to get rid of a lot of corpses is to burn them. Some of these will require you to have other special items in your inventory to use and other methods will involve changing the world settings in the game. I am here to teach you a few methods of getting rid of corpses in Project Zomboid to make your base a lot cleaner! Most also have multiple seats - the Osprey for example can seat up to 14! Some planes, like the helicopters, can land on the water and will float. The nose, just like in a Helicopter, is controlled with the mouse. The throttle will slowly speed you up, and once fast enough tilt your nose up to take off. Some helicopters can land on the water, and will float! Helicopters can also take assorted amount of passengers, including extra gunners to help fight off any targets. Once you get the hang of it, controlling them is very natural and you'll easily get all around the world! Push your mouse up, the controls will tilt the nose down, and you'll move forward. Throttle will simply accelerate you in whatever direction the roters are facing, so if you keep the controls level, you'll just go straight up. The helicopters in MCHeli can take a few minutes to master the controls of. You've all seen them, they go up and down and all around. I'll list below, but I'll sum up the actual features & facts of the mod! Like I said, there's a great asset system, but a few planes and helicopters are included by default. The issue is likely the world is full and that happens a lot with FFXIV. You'll just have to keep trying until it registers. Keep clicking to create til you get a character made. Am I doing this wrong? I logged in on off hours as well but to no avail. They play on Malboro in Crystal, and I haven't seen any of the Crystal servers accept new characters while waiting to get in. The circumstances surrounding our infrastructure are far from ideal, but I promise that we will continue to persevere in implementing any solutions we can! These setbacks have made it difficult for us to cut down on the time required for implementation.Ĭonsidering the current situation, we will likely require more time in implementing our large-scale solutions. Additionally, the recent resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Japan has raised major concerns regarding our ability to travel overseas for on-site implementations. As previously mentioned, however, there is an ongoing global shortage and increased demand for semiconductors, and quite frankly, we are still struggling to source the required equipment. To address the congestion situation, our Infrastructure and Development teams are working closely to plan large-scale solutions such as expanding our data centers or adding new Worlds. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this will cause for our players on the North American Data Centers.Īddition of New Worlds and Other Large-scale Solutions for Each Data Center In the meantime, we kindly request that you consider creating a character on a World within the Primal or Crystal Data Centers, though we’re aware that they are currently quite congested as well. Were the number of characters to increase any further, it could result in login queues taking up to several hours, which is why we needed to take this approach. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this will cause for those of you who were looking forward to embarking on adventures with friends. This means players will be unable to create new characters on any World on the Aether Data Center until this classification is lifted. Despite expanding the maximum capacity as much as possible and closely monitoring the situation, the number of logins for each World have constantly remained at full capacity, which led to us taking this course of action. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we ask that you continue to wait for your turn to log in should you encounter a queue.Ĭlassifying All Aether Data Center Worlds as CongestedĪs of the Patch 5.58 Hotfix maintenance, all Worlds on the Aether Data Center have been classified as Congested. Furthermore, in late September, we are also planning to replace some of our equipment with high-performance machines to further increase the cap. Increased Login Caps for European Data Centersĭuring the Patch 5.58 Hotfix maintenance scheduled for August 24, we will be changing the operating system settings for the server configuration of the European Data Centers, and the login cap will be increased once we have confirmed stability post-maintenance. There is new update regarding this matter Did TVPaint Développement purchase Mirage technology?įabrice Debarge: Absolutely not – TVPaint technology has been ALWAYS developed in northeastern France, since 1991! The history is a little bit messy because TVPaint technology has gone by a few different names over the years – TVPaint from 1991-1997, Aura from 1998-2003, and Mirage from 2003-2005 – because it was sold by different distributors. This software was really successful back in the 2000s. TVPaint Animation was named Mirage before. But anyone interested in working with us is welcome: feel free to send me your resumes. I can’t say anything more at the moment because it’s still being discussed. That’s why we are also planning to create an office, either in Canada or in the United States. Opening an office in Japan last year has been very helpful to provide the best services to Japanese animators and their specific needs, but we still have to find a solution for North America. It’s quite complicated to manage several time zones from an office located in France. We’re only 20 people who manage the software AND support the whole planet. Is it stressful to work at TVPaint Développement?įabrice Debarge: Well, it’s a humble-size company. And last but not least: let’s not forget our friends and families, because they have to deal with our hectic schedules, our stress, and our numerous trips across the world! An illustration that celebrates TVPaint Développement receiving ASIFA Hollywood’s Ub Iwerks award for its software achievements. Also, a very special thanks to the jury of the ASIFA Hollywood. I would like to thank all the people who’ve been using TVPaint technology, whether it’s been for decades or just a few weeks, especially the ones who take the time to send feedbacks through emails, our online forum, Facebook, Twitter, etc. I would like to thank our beta testers, who are a fistful of great international artists with a vast range of experience in animation. Obviously, I would like to thank the original creator of TVPaint technology, Hervé Adam, and the whole TVPaint team. Would you like to thank anyone in particular?įabrice Debarge: It is tough – there are so many people who’ve been part of our success. This award confirms we’ve been doing well, and we will continue to do our best to meet our users’ expectations. Our team has always done its best to provide an incredible software for traditional animators who want the natural feeling of animating on paper with all the power of modern digital tools. We have never lobbied for prizes or awards, so we could barely believe it! Now we know it is for real and we feel ecstatic: it’s a true honor for my team and I to be awarded, especially by ASIFA Hollywood! In Europe, there are no events to reward technologies that have been developed for the industry of animation, cinema, and vfx. How do you feel about that ?įabrice Debarge: When we received the letter from ASIFA Hollywood executive director Frank Gladstone, we went through a variety of emotions. We chat with TVPaint Développement CEO, Fabrice Debarge, who highlights the upcoming endeavors for the French company and its ingenious 2D animation software TVPaint Animation, and also introduces the software’s highly-anticipated Android version.Ĭartoon Brew: It’s been official for several weeks: at the next Annie Awards, taking place February 3 in Los Angeles, TVPaint Développement will be presented the Ub Iwerks Award, an honor that recognizes “technical advancement that has made a significant impact on the art and industry of animation.” It’s actually the first time ever that a French company is receiving this recognition. Is anything so small that it floats around in the envelope and interferes with the address window?.Does everything fit into the envelope so it can be sealed properly?.If the mail is inserted into an envelope, does the address show through the window of the envelope?.Can you fit the longest address on your list in the space provided legibly?.Is the address in the right place and facing the right direction?.Use a piece of paper the same size as the mail piece and fold it the way it will be when it is mailed. The easiest way to check a mail piece is to actually make a rough sample. Letter-size mail travels smoothly through the post office machinery and is charged at a lower postage rate than other mail. A template showing the dimensional standards for letter-size mail is also available through your local post office. The piece must also be within the proper aspect ratio of length to height. The completed, folded piece also must be less than 1/4' thick. Letter-size mail has a minimum dimension of 5' x 3 1/2' and a maximum of 11 1/2' x 6 1/8'. Whenever possible, create letter-size mail. In general, the basic principles used when selecting a paper apply to the ink coverage you use for the mailing panel. The black ink used for the address information may disappear if the background ink is too dark. In the future, post office requirements for machine compatibility may make it impossible to use speckled paper for pieces to be mailed.ĭon’t use solid areas of dark ink when designing the mailing panel of a self-mailer. Speckled or fibered papers are acceptable, but be aware that the little specks in the paper may interfere with the post office machinery’s ability to read the barcoding on your mail piece. Avoid dark or fluorescent colors because they may be rejected by the post office due to low contrast between the print and the background. White, cream, or soft pastel colors work well on mailing pieces. Select a paper that will contrast with the mailing address so the automatic readers at the post office will work accurately. Design your mail panel so the address information stands out. If you have questions about the proper wording for a mailing indicia, contact your Customer Service Representative (CSR). Just let us know whether you’d like the job to go out Presort Standard (bulk) or First Class when filling out your printing requisition and leave a blank space for the indicia on your camera-ready copy. If you would like, we will place our mailing permit in your design and include the postage on your printing invoice. Use the correct return address and mail indicia.Ī surprising number of printing orders come in with an obsolete return address borrowed from a previous project. This allows the finished mailer to ride through the post office machinery on a smooth folded edge, eliminating any need to hand sort the mail. We will close the open top edge of your self-mailer with a tab to make the piece compatible with post office automation. Place the address area so the open side of the piece is at the top and the fold is at the bottom. The automated readers at the post office scan these areas for information, and any text or graphics placed here will interfere with their ability to accurately read the mailing address. Leave the area to the left of the address block blank, and don’t put anything within 5/8' of the bottom of the mail panel. If it reads your return address before it gets to the mailing address, you’ll get all your mail back - delivered to the return address. It’s important to leave enough room for the return address to be well above the mailing address because the post office machinery will read the panel from left to right and send the mail to the first city and state it comes to. Leave blank space for the return address and mailing permit (indicia), as well as an area about 1.5' by 5' for the address of the mail recipient. Remember to leave enough room for a mailing panel. If you have questions about designing your mailing project, please contact your Customer Service Representative (CSR). You can help reduce mailing headaches and their added costs by remembering a few rules while you design printing projects that will mail. No matter how you’ve got your photos organized, Google Photos will strip all your labeling and just upload all your millions of photos together in its main space. Now you’re ready to start uploading.īut wait – how are your photos stored at the moment? Are they organized in folders that you’ve created – whether haphazardly or neatly by month and year or event? Or maybe they’re inside a software collection? Okay, okay, so you’re ready to jump into Google Photos, you’re fine with all the limitations and potentially giving up your life’s memories to the dark web. PicBackMan Software for Google Photos Backup Which, like Dropbox, is $10/month for 1TB. But if you’re hoping to backup high quality stills from your DSLR, or even RAW photos – which get automatically converted to JPG on upload – then you’ll need to upgrade to Google Drive’s monthly plan. If you’re just uploading your smartphone and point-and-shoot digital pictures, chances are they’ll be under 16MP or won’t lose a lot of resolution during compression. What happens if your files are bigger than the allotted dimensions? They get automatically compressed by Google Photos upon upload. Google Photos gives you unlimited total storage, but the size of the photos must be under 16 megapixels (and videos must be 1080p HD). But you also have to know about the limitations. If you’re willing to trade those potential downsides for free photo backups, then Google Photos may be a good long term backup solution. Face detect will figure out who you’re hanging out with, GPS tags will know where you’ve been during all these years of photo captures, and time/date info might even correlate to your shopping habits, which of course Google would like to know. What was on that drive anyway?Īt the very least, Google will use its robots to learn about you from your photos. They will have all your photos, which means there’s always the likelihood if them leaking or being accessed by a third party company, which may be more prone to hacks than Google, and then before you know it, your photos exist somewhere around the world. Google is a giant and is much more likely to exist in a few decades than a small cloud backup service, or even Dropbox.īut of course, there are trust issues with Google, or with anything free really, so you pay a certain price for free Google Photos. The offer from Google Photos – unlimited photo and video backups for life – makes it an attractive option if you understand the terms and limitations. And what if Dropbox ceases to be around in 20 or more years, or gets bought out? What happens to your photo backups then? Google Photos Backup For 10 years of simply storing your old photos, you’re paying $1200. (Yes, there’s a free option but it caps at 2GB, which is not enough for backing up photos.) Plus, it integrates directly with your Mac or PC to automatically backup and sync new photos. Dropbox starts at $10/month for 1 TB of storage. Or you can shill out a monthly fee to Dropbox or one of the other cloud-based photo backup services, and let someone else worry about maintaining your photo backups. That means one drive at a friend or family member’s house, another in safe, fire-proof storage, and one buried near the tree out back. Or you could take on the video editor’s rule of keeping your important data on 3 different drives in separate locations. Old, spinning drives at least have some physical burn of your photo data, so you may have better luck for long term backup with something like the WD MyBook (which we’ve used for years). Trust us, we’ve amassed a lot of media over the years, and our older SSD drives and USB sticks are already starting to ghost If gone unused for a couple years, flash memory has a tendency to simply disappear on you – poof, ghosting where there used to be data. But you can’t depend on USB sticks and SSD drives. If you’re like most people, the relief of unlimited digital photos has taken on a whole new type of anxiety: what to do with all your photos?īacking your thousands upon thousands of photos – and probably videos too – feels like a growing pressure as your phone and memory cards get filled up. You can buy them in bargain style shops for a couple of quid, or spend £20+ on some fancy brand from a pharmacy.Īverage price wise, normally sunscreen seems to be around £4-8 for 100ml - 200ml when bought in the UK. Sunscreen or sun cream prices can vary dramatically. What about a vegan or tinted version? – hold your horses, as Not The Norm, the company that makes Shade, is working on creating these versions! I’ll stock them when available. (The melting temperature of beeswax is 64⁰c) It will soften in higher temperatures, but not so much that it liquefies. Will it leak? Unless you are holidaying in Death Valley it won’t melt, so this isn’t anything to worry about. Unlike the plastic squeezy or spray bottles of sun cream, which seem as if they are used up when actually there's loads left in there, but just not enough left to be able to use the squeeze or spray function with. Another advantage of the tin format is that you can use up every single last drop of sunscreen. Or, if you have approximately one million containers already lying around the house and can’t possibly find a use for one more, you can put it in the recycling. What’s the advantage of that? Well, you can reuse the tin once you’ve finished with it, I’ve found it makes a good travel soap dish, but obviously, the possibilities of reuse are only limited to your imagination. This sunscreen is very moisturising, so you can use it as a moisturiser if you’ve run out or as an after sun to preserve your tan, less products used means less to carry around too. (The stronger the factor the stronger the ingredients too, so factor 50 could potentially be more irritating to the skin than lower factors if the sun cream has an ingredient you react to in it.) As I've mentioned above, the ingredients in Shade are also not harmful to marine life, so swim away! Good for sensitive skin, only four ingredients, so not much to be irritated by! The ingredients used have been chosen partially for their suitability for those with sensitive skin, as ‘normal’ sunscreens tend to have a lot of potential irritants in their ingredients. If it does, whatever you do, don’t use it and then swim in the sea! (Shade uses non-nano zinc oxide for this reason as it is deemed safe)Ĭheck any old bottles of sunscreen you have lying around to see if they contain any of these ingredients. Any nanoparticles like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.Any form of microplastic sphere or beads. The ‘HEL List’ by Haereticus Environmental Laboratory points out the ingredients which are the most harmful to marine environments. Many of the ingredients used by the leading (or your average) sunscreen brands have been found to be implicated in coral bleaching, and have a very detrimental effect on the health of the world’s reefs. This narrow vision of purpose and design has unfortunately led to unintended environmental consequences. This isn’t always the case with sunscreens including lots of man-made ingredients, as whilst they are very effective at protecting you from the sun’s rays, anything that happens to the ingredients afterwards isn’t really considered. The ingredients of Shade are all-natural, which means they are biodegradable and unlikely to hang around in the environment when the sunscreen washes off you. They are also disposed of quite regularly ‘on the go’ whilst at the beach for example, which often lacks recycling bins. We know the issues there, so the only thing to add is that sunscreen bottles aren’t often recycled, as they are often made out of a mixture of types of plastics and are unlikely to be cleaned out before being put in the bin. ‘Normal’ sunscreen pretty much all comes in plastic packaging. *My preferred environmental stance is floating on my back in the sea like an ocean sun fish, although it could also be basking on the beach reptile-style… There is lots of info for this product, so much so that I’ve added a FAQ at the bottom of the page, so check it out for all the answers to your 'burning' questions.
